Chocolaterie moves to Broadway!
One of Nyack's favorites makes a move.

Chocolaterie has been a Nyack staple for the past two years and is now "moving up" to South Broadway. Offering the best chocolates the world has, Chocolaterie has gained a reputation not only in taste but service. Annette van Loon, proprietor, was born in the Netherlands, on the border with Belgium and has always had a taste for the artistic and the delicious, bringing both to Nyack under the banner, Chocolaterie. The shop specializes in Belgian truffles and bonbons, giving an authentic European flair to any event, from corporate to personal, from showers to weddings, gifts and delightful baskets; Chocolaterie does it all and does it right. Chocolaterie has recently won the "Customer Service" award through the Sussex County Chamber of Commerce, in NJ., the home of their second store, bringing more to the meaning of "service" than just words.

"We love Nyack and Nyack is a unique village. That's why we offer special chocolate. Success, as I know it, has always been based on service, product and acceptance by the community. As I was growing up, my parents had their own business. They taught me 'De klant is koning,' meaning the customer is king," says Annette, with a smile.

The Optical Shop of Nyack
"When Art Meets the Eye"

Before coming to Nyack, Meg Yong, proprietor of The Optical Shop of Nyack, designed and manufactured frames for celebrities on Madison Avenue, NYC. This prior professional experience influenced Meg to view frames as art objects which are both fun and practical. The result is sophisticated styles translated into chic eyewear.

Meg enjoys creating a seasonal atmosphere at her eyewear boutique. Currently, she has artist Sophie Donatelli's work on exhibit. The Optical Shop also has unique and affordable accessories suitable for gifts.

"I want Villager readers to know The Optical Shop of Nyack is Rockland's destination for unique eyewear," Meg said. "We cater to clientele that extends from coast-to-coast, and our customers are savvy hunters, always in search of the next pair of funky eyewear."

Meg offers frames from the world's top private label designers in addition to handmade products. Some of the brands carried include Face a Face, MODO Eyewear, Italee and J.F. Rey. Everything in the store is selected for its quality and beauty. Meg will process your prescription as well as fit you with dazzling new frames. One of her staff is an expert at repairing frames. "Our clients run the gamut of styles and personalities-just like our frames. Often a client may be shy about trying a bold pair of glasses, while others definitely want to make a statement. We encourage people to browse and find the perfect pair."

The Optical Shop has specialty eyewear for men, women, and children. Eye exams by appointment. Conveniently located in the heart of Nyack. When Meg isn't at the shop she enjoys travel and reading.
