MAY AMUSEMENTS
Walking Tours 2008
Kay Levinson, Luke Conroy, Gini Stolldorf and Bob Goldberg lead
these history-rich walking tours, sponsored by The Friends of
the Nyacks. This year's schedule in brief:
· Upper Nyack on May 18-
This walk begins at Hopper House, proceeding North on Broadway
past stately Victorian homes with ornate towers and other architectural
embellishments of that time when Nyack was known as the "Gem
of the Hudson." Stroll past "Pretty Penny" and
find out how it got its name; observe a house whose owner spared
no expense in its building because it was a wedding present to
his soon-to-be wife but, in sparing no expense he exhausted his
funds and was left at the altar. See the Port of Upper Nyack,
an early shipbuilding center and reminder of when Nyack was a
leading boat builder on the Hudson.
All tours take place 2pm on a Sunday and
cost $5 pp. For info call 845-358-7910 or visit
