Predicting the date when Autumn leaf color will peak is an inexact science and depends on a lot of factors—temperature, rainfall, elevation and probably, aspects of tree chemistry we humans do not yet fully understand.
A good average is October 15 to 21 for the whole Hudson Valley and much of the rest of the Northeast. Once a year, the magical show of intense Autumn color lasts a few precious days to two glorious weeks. There is nothing else like it.
We try to soak up as much of it as we can, while we can. It will have to keep, in our memories, until next year.
