I have never been more proud to be a part of the river villages than I have been this past month. The damage caused by Sandy is unlike anything most of us have ever seen. But, amid the devastation, power outages and gas lines, organizations, community groups and neighbors all came together to help each other. Our mayors were ever present, providing support and daily updates on progress and relief efforts. Our police and volunteer fire departments worked tirelessly assisting residents and businesses and keeping us safe. Our Departments of Public Works have been the backbone of the cleanup effort. Our community generously responded to People to People (Rockland’s food pantry) and The Nyack Center’s request for food donations to make sure local families had food during this difficult time. Neighbors with power selflessly offered warm showers, hot food and refuge to those without. We may argue over things like parking, politics and policies but in tough times we pull together to help one another. We still have a long way to go and I have no doubt that by continuing to work together we will get there. I wish you all the most joyful of Holidays and a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year. With that, here are the homes that sold during October.
